Frequently Asked Questions

Everything pilots and clients need to know about how Gig Hanger works.

For Pilots

FAA Part 107 certification is strongly recommended and required for most commercial drone operations. You can indicate your certification status on your profile. Some non-commercial project types may have different requirements — always ensure you are operating within FAA regulations for each specific job.

Yes — creating your pilot profile and joining the Gig Hanger network is completely free. You can upload your portfolio, list your equipment, and start receiving project opportunities at no cost.

When a client submits a project request, our team reviews the requirements and identifies qualified pilots in the area based on location, specialties, equipment, and availability. Matched pilots receive a notification and can review the project details before accepting.

No. All communications occur through Gig Hanger's secure messaging system. Your personal email, phone number, and address are never shared with clients unless you choose to release that information by mutual agreement.

You need professional-grade drone equipment capable of delivering the services you list on your profile. The specific equipment requirements vary by service type — for example, thermal imaging requires a thermal camera, while mapping work may require specific software compatibility.

Liability insurance is strongly recommended and required for most commercial project types. Many clients and property owners require proof of insurance before allowing drone operations on their property. You can indicate your insurance status on your profile.

Payment terms are arranged between you and the client through the platform. Gig Hanger facilitates the connection and communication — specific payment arrangements are confirmed before project acceptance.

Yes. You control your service area radius, the types of projects you accept, and your availability. You can update these settings at any time from your pilot dashboard.

For Clients

Submit a project request through our Request a Project form. Provide details about the service type, location, dates, and any specific requirements. Our team will review your request and match you with qualified pilots in your area.

Most project requests are reviewed within 1-2 business days. Matching time depends on pilot availability in your area and the complexity of your project requirements.

We encourage all pilots on our platform to hold FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificates and indicate their certification status on their profiles. For commercial operations, FAA Part 107 certification is legally required. Always confirm certification status with your assigned pilot before the project begins.

We encourage open communication through our secure messaging system to resolve any concerns. If you have issues with delivered work, contact our support team and we will work to find a resolution.

Yes. If you have worked with a pilot through Gig Hanger previously and would like to request them again, mention this in your project request and we will do our best to accommodate the request based on their availability.
